Arguably the most critical skill a motorcycle rider must master is braking. Understand the physics of braking and the forces experienced by you and your motorcycle. Discuss the types of braking systems and proper use of your brakes for the best stopping performance. Presented by Troy Pierson, Engineer, MSF certified Rider Coach and avid motorcyclist.
This seminar will help you develop your own plan for a future road trip on your motorcycle. Destinations, trip planning aids, material sources, and ideas gleaned from years of motorcycling experience will be shared with you. Traveling solo and with others will be discussed. Come learn how to help make your next road trip as safe, carefree, and enjoyable as possible! Bill Bassett is a former motorcycle safety instructor and motorsports dealership salesman/sales manager. He has traveled extensively by motorcycle in North America and southern Europe during his 31 years of motorcycling.
Cornering a motorcycle can easily become a very complex physics problem, if you think about it too hard. This seminar will help you to wade through some of the myths and distracting information in providing a logical explanation of the physics involved in cornering a motorcycle. Learn the science behind changing direction while developing a better understanding of the basic principles, and how to apply them toward becoming a more proficient rider. Presented by Troy Pierson, Engineer, MSF certified Rider Coach, and avid motorcyclist.
Touring on paved and unpaved roads. Where can you go? What kind of bike do you need? What should you take? What resources are there for trip planning? Presenter Charlie Coons has toured on a dualsport bike in the US, Mexico and New Zealand.
Riding with a group of friends appeals to many riders and is an activity that can enhance your motorcycling experience. Learn about riding with a group to make your trip fun and exciting.
This session will be an opportunity to explore additional questions and answers that commonly arise from the Maximizing Performance - Braking and Cornering presentations. Facilitated by Troy Pierson, Engineer, MSF certified Rider Coach, and avid motorcyclist.
When the thirst for speed and competition become overwhelming, it's time to take it to the track before you do something stupid on the street. Representatives of various disciplines from the world of motorcycle competition will be on hand to introduce you to and invite you to join the world of motorcycle competition. From volunteering to "work a corner" to "dragging a knee through a corner", from "getting sick air over the double" to "railing the berm" to "blasting the whoops", from "burning a checkpoint" to "sweeping the course", the world of motorcycle racing is a thrilling rush of adrenaline for nearly everyone involved. Come explore some of the opportunities that are available for you to put your skills to the challenge.
